The North American Construction Law Symposium (NACLS) will continue the CLSA's exclusive advanced construction law series on December 5, 2019, at the Harvard Club of New York City, where you will have the opportunity of speaking before and learning from your elite peers in a small group setting. In addition to a unique learning experience, you will come away with an impressive credential for your bio, e.g., "Speaker, Title of Speech/Presentation, Construction Lawyers Society of America, North American Construction Law Symposium, New York, NY, December 5, 2019."
There are only 14 speaker slots for this event, which is designed to allow for personal interaction and discussion on all of the presentations, and 14 additional slots for observers/contributors. Observers/contributors will participate in the discussions, but will not present a topic of their own.
A private dinner will be open to attendees and guests on the night preceding the symposium, on December 4th, which will coincide with the 2019 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting. The cost of dinner ($198 per person) is separate from the symposium and pre-registration is required.
The symposium format is eight hours, fourteen speakers, 30 minutes each, speaking on any construction topic desired that will add to the superior construction law strategies and tactics of NACLS attendees. Best of all, you select your topic with the only requirement being that it has to be something valuable you have divined about practices relating to construction law, whether transactional or litigation aspects of construction, or more specifically contract preparation, contract negotiations, surety bonding, traditional litigation and ADR, and/or any other facet of construction law applicable to commercial, residential, and energy construction matters nationally and internationally that is so innovative you would pass it on to your most trusted friends in the legal community. The symposium series is built around the idea of actual tried and true tactics and strategies so that everyone comes away with a variety of presentations, angles, tools, and devices.
The NACLS concept and design will not be similar to typical seminar programs where you can speak and leave. It will be a full day of immersion in dialogue and discussion between you and your peers: lawyers with years of experience, successes, and verdicts. Fellows will come to exchange tactics and techniques of the highest order. This type symposium only works if everyone is committed for the entire event. This is not a "drive through" or a "speak, greet and go" event. Those who speak early should stay until day's end out of respect for the process and for those who speak later. If your schedule does not allow you to be present the entire day, then perhaps it will for a future North American Construction Law Symposium.
There is a $695 registration fee to attend (including breakfast, lunch, meeting space, AV for the speaking sessions, etc.). If you are interested in attending, please contact Beth Rich at Beth.Rich@ConstructionSociety.org or 470-303-6005.
There are no written materials required and CLE credits will not be issued. We will, however, provide you with a Certificate of Attendance which you may submit to your state bar association(s) for approval.
We hope that you will make plans to join us for the North American Construction Law Symposium III. See you in New York!
The CLSA’s Annual NACLS Dinner will be held at Gallaghers Steakhouse on Wednesday, December 4.
